Düsseldorf/Madrid, 22 November 2017. Douglas, a leading retailer in the European beauty sector, has become the No. 1 retailer for beauty and cosmetics in Spain. After all closing conditions had been fulfilled, Douglas has completed the acquisition of 102 Perfumerías If stores as well as the company’s e-commerce platform as agreed with Spanish retail group Eroski in July. Following the closing of the transaction and the takeover of Grupo Bodybell earlier this year, Douglas now operates 382 stores in all regions of the country.

Besides the two acquisitions in Spain, Douglas most recently completed the takeover of the two leading perfumery chains in Italy, Limoni and La Gardenia. After completion of these transactions, Douglas now operates about 2,400 perfumeries in 19 European countries, combined with a network of fast growing online shops. The expansion in Spain and Italy marks a major milestone in Douglas’ strategy to become the No. 1 or a strong No. 2 in every market the company serves.
